Frequently asked questions about EUKLID DynaGeo
-
Which operating systems EUKLID DynaGeo is suited for?
The 32-bit EUKLID DynaGeo (vers. 2.0 and higher) runs on all 32 bit Windows versions (like Win95 / 98 / NT4 / ME / XP /... ). To get full advantage of the built-in online help you need an actual version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer (IE 5 is okay) because EUKLID DynaGeo uses the new HTML help system.
Just have a look at the download page...

Can EUKLID DynaGeo run in a local network?
Yes. There are much experiences with NOVELL and Windows networks, as long as the operation system of the clients is 32-bit Windows (see above).
The installation of EUKLID DynaGeo is easy even in networks, because the program doesn't clamp itself at the client's Windows OS: it doesn't need to make any entries into the registry nor does it write any DLLs to the Windows directory - and there is no need for an uninstall program (which usually fails when you need it).

Problems with exporting drawings via clipboard
a) Clipping problems:
When you export an EUKLID DynaGeo drawing to the clipboard and insert it into a WORD document, it may happen that the straight lines do not stop at the border of the drawing but run away across and right through your text. Perhaps, the document looks fine on screen, and this calamity happens only when you print it out. In most cases you can fix this by adding a positioning frame to the picture in your document.
b) Size and aspect ratio are lost:
When you import an EUKLID DynaGeo drawing via clipboard to your word processor program, it may lose its size and (even worse!) its aspect ration. Though you usually can resize the drawing, you lost the information about the original format. To avoid this, make sure that your word processor program supports the new EMF graphics format introduced by MicroSoft with Win95. (Unfortunately, it took 2 more years, that WORD learned to support EMF...)

How to convert a shareware version into a licensed one?
After you ordered a license from ShareIt you will get an email from me with your license data file attached. If it is zipped, then unzip it: you'll get a file with any name and the extension ".DGL". Don't try to open this file because your Windows surely does not know how to handle DGL files! Just copy it to your EUKLID DynaGeo directory! In many email clients, this can be done by right-clicking the attachment to bring up a context menu and then choosing the item "Save as..." or "Save". The next time you start the program, it will come up as a licensed full version.

If EUKLID DynaGeo refuses to start...
When you start EUKLID DynaGeo, it may happen that only a message appears like
"The program's EXE file has been altered".
After you closed the message window, EUKLID DynaGeo will terminate.
This may look like a malfunctioning, but it is not! You'd better take this hint very, very seriously! In nearly all of the cases when EUKLID DynaGeo showed this message, it later turned out that the computer really has been infected by a virus. At startup, EUKLID DynaGeo checks its own EXE file to make sure that it is okay. If not, there is no chance to run without errors, so it's better to run not at all!
If you unfortunately get this message box on your screen, please check out your computer with an actual virus scanner! Remove the harmful intruders, delete the bad DYNAGEO.EXE and reinstall EUKLID DynaGeo from a clean installation archive. If necessary, you can download an actual one from here.
